Early Years Learning Framework

Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF):

The EYLF is an early childhood curriculum framework, which guides our educators in developing quality, early childhood education programs. The framework describes the principles, practice and outcomes to support and enhance your children’s learning from birth to five years, as well as their transition to school.

The EYLF has a strong emphasis on play-based learning. The framework also recognises the importance of communication and language (including early literacy and numeracy) and social and emotional development. In addition, the framework has a focus on successful transition to formal schooling.

Here at Tecoma, all our educators maintain a current working knowledge of the EYLF through self-guided learning programs and in services provided throughout the year.

“Play-based learning is a context for learning through which children organise and make sense of their social world, as they engage actively with people, objects and representatives.”

Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guidelines (QKLG):

Tecoma is an approved provider of the Queensland Government Approved Kindergarten Program. Our Kindergarten program is implemented by a Bachelor Qualified Teacher and is designed to support your child’s participation in a quality Early Childhood Education Program and prepare them for their first years of school.

My Time, Our Place (MTOP):

This Framework builds on the EYLF and extends the principles, practice and outcomes to accommodate the contexts and age range of the children and young people who attend a school age care setting. The Framework ensures that children in school age care have opportunities to engage in leisure and play-based experiences which contribute fully to their ongoing development.
